Extensive restoration of a seasoned VSCCA vintage race car, owned and raced for 30 years by the seller. Complete mechanical restoration including fresh, correct 750 engine. Fresh paint in red on a corrosion free body and rust free chassis. Original Zagato interior. I purchased the car in 1985 in Rhode Island. It was a street car that had never been raced. The car raced in VSCCA and VRG, mainly VSCCA from April, 1987 to September, 2011 with much success. The car won its’ class in the 1989 Vintage Fall Festival. The best time for the car at Lime Rock was 1:14. It was one of the quickest racing Abarths in the Northeast. About 4 years ago, I decided to retire the car and bring it back to its original state. It is a perfect street driver, equally at home or on the track. INTERIOR: The blue interior is original. All door panels, side panels, and headliner are the original pieces that came with the car when new. The seats were restored and covered with the original pattern. Luggage tray behind the seat is new. The original one comes with the car. Carpets are new. The original rubber mats are also included with the sale. All the interior rubber parts are new. Steering wheel, gauges, switches, and dash lights are original. All aluminum parts were professionally polished. Any chrome parts that needed to be re-chromed were completely refinished. All glass is original, with Securit numbers IGM1273VP and 3-11-55 AS2 stamped on all. The rear vent window is glass and the vent flaps are operational. Door window mechanisms have been cleaned and painted. The door opening and closing mechanism has been painted and checked. The driver’s side outside door lock works and the keys are included. BODY: The body is aluminum and was stripped by hand, prepped, and sealed. After sanding, it was painted, sanded, and buffed. Hood and engine covers inside were left bare showing the aluminum finish. Doors open and close properly and have correct gaps. Polished aluminum bumpers are original. All trim pieces are original and have been polished or re-chromed. The trim around the windows and rain gutter has been polished. The floor pans were replaced on both sides because of metal fatigue under the seats. They were done by EDP Enterprises of Acworth, NH, USA. SUSPENSION: All suspension was removed and rebuilt. Front leaf spring taken apart, cleaned, and painted. Proper rubber strips were put between all leaves. All bushings were replaced. For racing, a front spring centering bar was added to help maintain suspension alignment under hard cornering. Koni adjustable shocks (as original) were tested and painted with original decals installed. I have the original Konis that were on the car when purchased that will go with the sale. The front wheel bearings were replaced and packed. Rear suspension was cleaned and painted and coil springs were checked. All wheel rims were stripped, checked, and painted. The tires on the car are Yokohama, 145×12 – 372 series.
