This 1972 Alfa Romeo Berlina 2000 comes to us from Italy after having been in long term storage for 30+ years. It comes from a retired Italian Alfa dealer who kept the best trade-ins for his personal collection. With fewer than 20K original miles – there are very few in this fine original condition. The body is absolutely straight and rust free. The interior is a classic design with artful wood trim and tasteful chrome accents. Very comfortable and supportive front buckets with a roomy back seat and large, practical trunk. This car is ready to enjoy as a daily driver or weekend joy ride. Very collectable and likely to appreciate in value if preserved. The car was inspected by our specialists in Italy and anything needed was taken care of. This particular car received a thorough detailing and a major tune up including new battery, all new fluids including radiator fluid, engine oil and filter. After delivery to the US, we again checked it over and all is in excellent working order. Runs with vigor, shifts clean and sharp, handles with snap, and just sounds beautiful. Designed by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone, the Berlina was developed as an executive saloon with a roomier body than the previous Giulia models, but retaining the lively handling and sporty performance expected of an Italian sport sedan. The Alfa Romeo Berlina 2000 was produced between 1971 and 1977. An upgrade to the previous Berlina 1750, in the 2000 the engine was bored and stroked out to 1,962 cc. A different grill, head and tail lamps also distinguish the 2000 from 1750. With two Weber carburetors, this 2 litre Twin Cam produces 130 hp. Top speed is 200 km/h (124 mph) and 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration under 9 seconds. In USA versions this engine was equipped with mechanical fuel injection, but the euro version Webers are generally felt to be easier to tune and less costly to maintain. Gearbox is the slick shifting Alfa 5-speed manual. Brakes are 4-wheel discs with outstanding feel and stopping power. A very comfortable ride is mated to excellent handling.
