This 1983 Ferrari 308 GTSi Quattrovalvole comes in a classic red on black color configuration. The paint job is completely original with no repainted panels on the car. The vehicle features a 5-speed manual transmission and a 2.9L V8 engine that included fuel injection for the first time as of 1980. The GTS version of the Ferrari 308 features a targa top that can easily be removed by a single person. While the Ferrari 308 had been around since 1975, an important change was made halfway through its production run. In 1980 Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection was added on the 308 GTS (subsequently renamed 308 GTSi) which helped reduce its emissions. The Bosch fuel injection system was coupled to a Marelli MED 803A Digiplex electronic ignition system, incorporating a coil, distributor and ignition module for each bank of cylinders. Unlike the 308 GTSi it succeeded, the Quattrovalvole featured 4-valves per cylinder (quattrovalvole means “four valves” in Italian) which increased its power output to 240 hp and restored some of the performance lost to the emission control equipment of previous model years.
