Ready to cast off from the dock and take a little trip in this little Italian boat? MotoeXotica offers this 1995 Fiat Barchetta (which means “little boat” in Italian). This is no ordinary Barchetta, it was specially body styled by famed Italian stylist Bauleo di Corigliano of Calabria and also has a unique interior.
Built in Chivasso, Italy at the coachbuilder Maggiora, on March 29, 1995, this version eschews the standard model’s transparent headlight covers and other bodywork, including a lower front and side skirts plus a rear valance through which the dual exhausts. This example is both left-hand and front-wheel drive.
The car’s white exterior with black trim is in overall very good order, its bodywork is straight and solid, and the integrated, wraparound bumpers blend into the rest of the body. The cargo area is in satisfactory condition. The roadster’s black folding soft-top is in overall very good order.
This Fiat rolls on tire size 195/55R15 all around. Each tire is mounted to a MAK Performance Wheel. The wheels and tires are all in good, original condition.
Under the hood is a 1.8L DOHC, 16-valve four-cylinder engine (Family B) with multi-port fuel injection and variable valve timing and breathing through dual tailpipes. This motor is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power steering and power windows. It has rack-and-pinion steering plus four-wheel disc brakes.
Inside, there is a customized interior, with black racing seats trimmed in white and a black-and-white B Racing instrument panel with thick chrome trim rings around the gauges. The bucket seats and dashboard are in overall great shape, while the carpet is in satisfactory order. An oval, three-spoke steering wheel with a thick, flat-bottomed rim faces the driver and the gauges are deeply set within the panel. A console-mounted shifter falls to the driver’s right hand and has its own trim ring. The center console looks great and houses an aftermarket AM/FM stereo.
Convertible competition to this Fiat in 1995 included BMW’s 318i, Chevrolet’s Cavalier Z24, Honda’s Civic del Sol Si, Mazda’s Miata and Pontiac’s Sunfire SE.
If Italian roadsters are your sweet spot in the automotive universe, then you owe it to yourself to come to MotoeXotica Classic Cars and check out this 1995 Fiat Barchetta before it sails away with someone else to a different port of call.
